: Apple and Twitter

patrickbgibson:

My friend and co-worker Tom has a thesis about Apple’s biggest problem: Google is getting better at design faster than Apple is getting better at web services.

I’m a long-time Mac user and a diehard Apple fan, and even I will admit that Apple’s approach to the web has been a clusterfuck….

Mountain Lion

Boom! There you go. OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is coming this summer.

And yes… Apple continues to bring iOS experience to OS X. This is some of the features from iOS that will be available on Mountain Lion:

  • iMessage,
  • Reminders,
  • Notes,
  • Notification Center,
  • Twitter integration,
  • Game Center,
  • AirPlay Mirroring.

Also, new security system named Gatekeeper. John Grubber said:

“It’s a system whereby developers can sign up for free-of-charge Apple developer IDs which they can then use to cryptographically sign their applications. If an app is found to be malware, Apple can revoke that developer’s certificate, rendering the app (along with any others from the same developer) inert on any Mac where it’s been installed. In effect, it offers all the security benefits of the App Store, except for the process of approving apps by Apple.”

Users have three choices which type of apps can run on Mountain Lion:

  • Only those from the App Store
  • Only those from the App Store or which are signed by a developer ID
  • Any app, whether signed or unsigned

Cultural Algorithm

The Cultural Algorithm is an extension to the field of Evolutionary Computa- tion and may be considered a Meta-Evolutionary Algorithm. It more broadly belongs to the field of Computational Intelligence and Metaheuristics.

The Cultural Algorithm is inspired by the principle of cultural evolution. Culture includes the habits, knowledge, beliefs, customs, and morals of a member of society. Culture does not exist independent of the environment, and can interact with the environment via positive or negative feedback cycles. The study of the interaction of culture in the environment is referred to as Cultural Ecology.

Heuristics

  • The Cultural Algorithm was initially used as a simulation tool to investigate Cultural Ecology. It has been adapted for use as an optimization algorithm for a wide variety of domains not-limited to constraint optimization, combinatorial optimization, and continuous function optimization.
  • The knowledge base structure provides a mechanism for incorporating problem-specific information into the execution of an evolutionary search.
  • The acceptance functions that control the flow of information into the knowledge base are typically greedy, only including the best information from the current generation, and not replacing existing knowledge unless it is an improvement.
  • Acceptance functions are traditionally deterministic, although probabilistic and fuzzy acceptance functions have been investigated.

Jadi, Cultural algorithm adalah errr… %$#%$HG^%R4(%^$#$.
Ok… I’ll come back later. For now on, just take a look at this: https://gist.github.com/1841238

Hello World OpenGL di Mac OS X

Berikut ini adalah tutorial singkat untuk memulai OpenGL di Mac OS X. Saya menggunakan Xcode versi 4.0 di OS X Snow Leopard.

1. Create new project.

2. Pilih template project Command Line Tool pada kategori Mac OS X Application.

3. Beri nama project Anda. Saya menamainya “HelloOpenGL”. Pilih type project ‘Core Foundation’.

4. Tentukan lokasi untuk menyimpan project. Terserah.

5. Selanjutnya kita tambahkan framework OpenGL dan GLUT ke project kita. Caranya: pilih ‘Add Files to…” dari menu ‘File’.

6. Pilih folder GLUT.framework lalu klik ‘Add’.

Lokasi framework GLUT ada pada path berikut:

10. This is it. Happy coding!
